

Awards Day 2010
Celebrating UK Students' Achievements
On Tuesday 4th May, the Assembly Rooms in Derby was for the second year running the venue for the 2010 UK National Awards (the Panasonic KWN UK ‘Oscars’). Over two hundred students and teachers all around the UK travelled to the Midlands to share their video reports, celebrate their achievements and compete for five major awards.
The awards day proved to be a very successful getting-together of nearly all of our participating schools.
We had a great day based around viewing all the KWN UK entries. This year the theme was once again ecology and communication. All the students also took part in creative group activities that united students from different schools in examining the positive outcomes of KWN. A local band livened things up for us and Lucy from Wildern school played guitar and sang solo – a real achievement in front of such a big crowd.
The afternoon was obviously building up towards the big awards presentation, eagerly anticipated by all. We were very pleased to have the presence of John Dixon, Head of Brand Communications to present the awards.
