When did KWN UK start?

KWN UK began in the UK in 2004 with 10 secondary schools spread around the UK.

Who runs KWN UK?

KWN UK is sponsored by Panasonic and run by a group of dedicated freelance staff.

When does the KWN UK programme run?

The programme runs annually from September through to the awards day, which usually takes place in April or early May. Go to the schedule page for this year's dates.

How can I take part?

Schools for the KWN programme are chosen by the KWN staff, often in consultation with LEAs around the UK. If you would like to be considered for the programme then please email us at kidwitnessnews@googlemail.com.

What costs are involved for my school?

All the days provided by the course are free of charge (launch, training and awards days). Video equipment is provided free of charge but does not include video editing hardware or software, which must be provided by the school. The participating school is liable for the cost of any teaching cover required to facilitate staff time on the course. Staff participation in the course is likely to be: Launch day - 1 or 2 members of staff. 1 member of staff present during training day 1. Training day 2 is regional and will require the appropriate staff-student ratio for the full KWN student team of 10 or 12. Training day 3 is regional and will require the appropriate staff-student ratio for 3 or 4 students (to be advised by the KWN team). The Awards Day takes place in one central UK venue and will require the appropriate staff-student ratio for the full KWN student team of 10 or 12.
